Product Description
CIS butenedioic anhydride, also known as maleic anhydride or dehydrated malic anhydride, is
an organic compound. The molecular formula is c4h2o3 and the molecular weight is 98.06. It
is mainly prepared by the oxidation of n-butane or butene in benzene or C4 fraction. The solid
maleic anhydride is white flake live granular crystal, easy to sublimate, soluble in alcohol, ether
and acetone, with a relative density of 1.48 (20 ºC solid) or 1.30 (70 ºC liquid), and a boiling
point of 202 ºC. It is easy to deliquesce in water to form maleic acid.

Maleic anhydride uses
1.It is mainly used to produce unsaturated polyester resin, alkyd resin, pesticide malathion, high
efficiency and low toxicity pesticide 4049 and long-acting iodamine. It is also a coating, maleic
rosin, polymaleic anhydride, maleic anhydride styrene copolymer. It is also an organic chemical
raw material for the production of ink additives, papermaking additives, plasticizers, tartaric acid,
fumaric acid, tetrahydrofuran, etc. It can be used as curing agent of epoxy resin, and can be used
to manufacture succinic acid, succinic anhydride, etc. in organic synthesis. It is used in the
pharmaceutical industry to manufacture long-acting sulfonamides and other drugs. In the food
industry, it is used to manufacture sour agents, such as malic acid and tartaric acid.
2.Used in organic synthesis, synthetic fiber intermediate. Used as an analytical reagent, such as
a reagent for the determination of organic compounds with conjugated double bonds.
3.It can be used as curing agent for epoxy resin. The reference dosage is 19 ~ 27 parts by mass.
It is not suitable to be used alone because of its high reactivity and volatility. It is mostly mixed
with other anhydride or toughening agent (such as pyromellitic dianhydride). Curing conditions:
160 ~ 200 ºC / (2 ~ 4h). It can also be used to graft with EVA and PE blends to prepare new
polymers of hot melt adhesive and improve adhesion. It can also be used as a modified monomer
for the production of acrylate emulsion and grafting with SBS.
