PAI (polyamide-imide) is an extremely strong and stiff plastic material. It isoften used in elevated temperature environments where other thermoplastics and would lose their mechanical properties.PAI is a very dimensionally stable material with an extremely low coefficient fuels, of thermal expansion making it an excellent choice for applications that requiremachining to tight tolerances. PAI is available in a variety of formulations including electrical, bearing and wear, and glass-filled grades. Electrical grade PAI has extremely high dielectric strength and it is often used for applications where it functions as an electrical insulator. Bearing grade PAI can be used for demanding bearing applications that require extreme loads, speeds, and/or elevated temperatures. Glass-filled PAI has enhanced strength and stiffness. PAI working temperature can reach 250 centi degrees.
Advantages: ♦ Strong and stiff ♦Performs well atelevated temperatures ♦Extremely low thermal expansion ♦ Excellent electrical insulating properties ♦ Outstanding bearing wear properties ♦Good resistance to common solvents, and acids
Disadvantages: ♦Easy to damage the characteristics by various chemicals, steam will also allow the rapid decrease of thematerial properties ♦ High hydroscopic property. If use under 200 centi degrees and require high precision, the materials must be dried before heating. Heating the PAI which own high hydroscopic will occur swelling and become deformed.
Application:
♦Semiconductor machinery parts ♦ Bearings and bushings ♦ Chip test sockets♦Bearing cages ♦ Pump and valve parts ♦ Seals ♦ Electrical connectors ♦ Aerospace components
